Online Quran Classes in New Jersey

Online Quran Classes Anywhere in New Jersey, No Drive

New Jersey is a busy state. Traffic on the Turnpike and the Parkway can turn a short trip into a long one. After work and school, getting to an evening Quran class is hard to fit in.

Online classes skip the drive. Your child joins from home on a laptop, tablet or phone. The teacher joins live on video. It is just the teacher and your child, for 30 minutes. It works the same in Paterson, Jersey City, Newark, Edison, Piscataway or Cherry Hill. It works in a small shore town too.

Your child keeps one teacher for the whole course. That teacher hears every lesson, so no weak spot is missed from week to week.

Online classes also mean no waiting list. You do not have to wait for a seat in a full evening class. Once you choose a plan, classes can start the same week.

Eastern Time Slots Around the School Day

All of New Jersey is on Eastern Time. You choose your class times in Eastern Time, and they stay the same each week. When the clocks change for daylight saving, we take care of it.

Classes run 24 hours a day, so you are not tied to the list below. These sample slots fit a normal school day:

  • 6:45 am, before the school bus: a short class while the mind is fresh.
  • 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm, right after school: before sports, clubs and homework.
  • 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, after dinner: our busiest time, so book it early.
  • Saturday and Sunday mornings: a calm slot for families with packed weekdays. Weekend classes cost the same.

Classes for NJ Kids

Most children begin with Noorani Qaida. It teaches the Arabic letters, the short vowel marks and how letters join. Kids as young as 4 can start. After Qaida, they read the Quran with Tajweed, the rules for saying each sound clearly. Some go on to Hifz, which means learning the Quran by heart.

Not sure where your child should start? In the free trial, the teacher listens to your child read. Then the teacher tells you which course fits and how many classes a week make sense.

A good class for a child is short, clear and kind. The teacher fixes each mistake on the spot, then lets the child try again. Small wins come every week, and that keeps kids keen to come back.

Parents can join any class. You get a short note after each lesson and a written report each month. If your child wants a different teacher, tell us. We set up a free trial with a new teacher within a week.

Adults, Commuters and Shift Workers

Many New Jersey adults spend hours each week on the train or in the car. Others work night shifts at hospitals, warehouses or the airport. A fixed 7 pm class does not work for them. So our slots run from very early to very late.

Adults can start from the first letter, or polish reading they learned as children. You set the pace. Sisters can choose a female teacher for the whole course. Our page on classes for adults has more detail.

Here are a few ways to fit class into a long day:

  • Before the train: a 5:30 am or 6:00 am class at home, then the commute.
  • Late at night: a 10:00 pm or 11:00 pm class after the kids are in bed.
  • Rotating shifts: tell us your days off, and we book class on those days.
  • Weekends only: 2 classes a week, one on Saturday and one on Sunday.

Fees in USD

We bill once a month in US dollars. Each class is 30 minutes and private on every plan. There is no sign-up fee and no contract. Pay by card, PayPal or bank transfer.

A female teacher or a weekend class costs the same. A second or third child pays a lower fee. To pause or change your plan, give us 1 week's notice. If you pay and change your mind, ask within 7 days. We refund every class you have not taken.

One Academy for Families in NJ and New York

It is common for a family to live on both sides of the Hudson. A parent may work in Manhattan and live in New Jersey. Cousins may live in Queens and in Jersey City. Both states are on Eastern Time. So a 5 pm class in Newark is a 5 pm class in Brooklyn.

This makes it easy to use one academy for the whole family. Cousins in both states can ask for the same teacher, with classes back to back. Each child still has their own private class and their own notes.

Moving from New York to New Jersey, or the other way? Nothing has to change. Your teacher, your time slot and your plan stay the same.

Ramadan, School Breaks and Summer

Your week will not look the same all year, so your classes do not have to either. In Ramadan, we plan new times around iftar, the meal at sunset, and taraweeh, the night prayer. You can also take class early, before suhoor, the meal before dawn.

Over winter break, spring break and the long summer, kids have more free time. You can add classes for those weeks or move class to the morning. Give us 1 week's notice, then switch back when school starts.

Going abroad to see family over the summer? You can pause with 1 week's notice, and you do not pay for paused weeks. Or keep a review class going while you are away. We set it in the time zone where you are staying.

What You Need for Class

You do not need to buy any books or software. The teacher shows each Qaida or Quran page on screen and sends you the class link. To join, you need a few simple things:

  • A laptop, tablet or phone with a camera and a microphone. A bigger screen makes the letters easier to see.
  • Steady internet at home. A home connection is better than mobile data on the go.
  • A quiet corner where the student can read aloud without the TV or other noise.
  • For young kids, a parent close by for the first few classes, until they get used to the call.

How to Start

Booking takes a few minutes. We do not ask for a card. Here are the steps:

  • Fill in the free trial form with the student's age and level.
  • Give us 2 or 3 Eastern Time slots that work, and pick a male or female teacher.
  • We confirm a time, most often within 24 hours.
  • Take the free 30-minute class. The teacher checks the student's level.
  • Get a short note with the course and plan we suggest. Then decide. You pay nothing unless you go on.
