Online Quran Classes Australia

Why Families in Australia Choose Online Quran Classes

The Muslim community in Australia is large and young. It is spread across cities that are huge by world standards. A family in outer Melbourne, western Sydney or the Perth hills may live an hour from the nearest Quran teacher. With evening traffic, 1 weekly class can take 2 hours of your day. Online lessons remove that problem. The tutor joins on screen at the agreed time, and the student reads. The class ends 30 minutes later with a clear goal for next time.

The second reason is attention. In a weekend class of 15 children, each child may read for only 3 minutes. In a Salam Campus class, the student reads for most of the lesson. The tutor corrects each mistake as it happens. And the student keeps the same tutor from the first letter to the last page.

Online Quran Academy in Australia

Salam Campus is an online Quran academy. We have taught students here for years, along with families in the UK, USA and Canada. Each class is one-on-one and live on Zoom or Google Meet. Before joining us, each tutor goes through 3 steps. We test their reading, we interview them, and we train them to teach online.

Our tutors come from Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. They teach in English, Arabic and Urdu. You can ask for a male or female teacher. The tutor you meet at the trial stays with the student for the whole course.

Learn Quran Online in Australia with Tajweed

Tajweed is the set of rules that makes Quran reading correct and beautiful. It is easiest to learn from a teacher who hears each sound you make. Our tutors listen as you read. They stop you at each mistake. Then they explain the rule in plain English, and you try again. Beginners start with the letters and where each sound comes from in the mouth. Advanced students work on long sounds, nasal sounds and the rules for when to stop.

Adults across the country join us for many reasons. Some want to fix reading they picked up as a child without a proper teacher. Some want to lead prayers at home. Others want to read the Quran in Arabic for the first time.

Quran Classes for Kids in Australia

Most children start with Noorani Qaida. This first reading book teaches the Arabic letters, the vowels and how letters join, starting from zero. Then children move on to reading the Quran with Tajweed. Classes are 30 minutes, because young children cannot focus for long. Each class follows the same calm pattern, so your child knows what to expect:

Parents get a short note after each class. You can sit in whenever you wish. There is only one child in each class. A shy child gets the tutor's full attention. A confident child is never held back by the speed of a group.

  • A quick review of the last lesson
  • 1 or 2 new points
  • Reading with the tutor's help
  • A small goal to practise before next time

Female Quran Teachers for Students in Australia

Many families prefer a female tutor. It may be for a daughter, or for a mother who learns with her children. Some adult women feel more at ease reciting to another woman. Salam Campus has qualified female teachers. They have the same training and certificates as our male teachers. To ask for one, just tick the box on the free trial form.

Female tutors teach all our courses, from Noorani Qaida to Hifz (learning the whole Quran by heart). You can book them in evening and weekend slots in your time zone.

Class Times in Every Australian Time Zone

Australia has 3 main time zones. We book each student on their own local clock. Here is how it works:

The busiest times are 4 pm to 8.30 pm after school, and mid-morning on weekends. Early classes from 6 am suit adults who want to study before work. Australia is ahead of most of the world in time. So your evening falls in our tutors' working day. This means there are plenty of evening slots, not just a few.

  • Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra book in AEST.
  • Victoria, New South Wales and the ACT move to AEDT in summer.
  • Perth and the rest of Western Australia book in AWST. There is no daylight saving there.
  • Students in Adelaide and Darwin are booked on Central time.

Scheduling Around Australian School Terms

Schools here have 4 terms a year, with a 2-week break between terms. The long summer break runs from mid-December to late January. You can plan your classes around these dates in 3 ways:

Just tell your tutor 1 week ahead, and we change the plan. In Ramadan, the schedule moves so students can keep studying. Classes fit around suhoor (the meal before dawn) and taraweeh (the night prayers of Ramadan). When daylight saving starts or ends on the east coast, your slot moves with it by itself.

  • Keep the same slot all year
  • Add extra classes in the school breaks, when there is more time
  • Take fewer classes in the busy weeks of Term 4 and exams

Quran Courses Offered to Australian Students

Students here can take any Salam Campus course. The 4 below are the ones families choose most often. Each course page shows the full course plan, who it suits and how long it usually takes.

  • Noorani Qaida: the Arabic letters, vowels and joining rules, for complete beginners of any age
  • Quran Reading with Tajweed: read the whole Quran smoothly and follow each rule
  • Memorise Quran Online: a clear Hifz plan with new lessons and review each day
  • Islamic Studies for Kids: prayer, duas (short prayers) and good manners, taught in plain English

Online Quran Classes in Australia: Fees in AUD

You pay each month in Australian dollars. There is no sign-up fee and no lock-in contract. Brothers and sisters get a discount. You can pause or change your plan with 1 week's notice. Each class is 30 minutes. Here is what each plan costs:

Each plan is private and one-on-one. There is no cheaper group option, because we do not teach groups. Hifz students and adults can ask for longer classes of 45 or 60 minutes. This lets them cover more in each sitting.

  • 2 classes a week: $40 a month
  • 3 classes a week: $60 a month
  • 4 classes a week: $80 a month
  • 5 classes a week: $100 a month
  • Hifz plan, with 1 class each weekday: $200 a month

Certified Quran Teachers for Students Across Australia

Before a tutor teaches any student here, we check them in 3 ways. We interview them. We test their reading and their Tajweed. Then we watch them teach sample lessons. Most of our tutors hold an Ijazah in recitation. An Ijazah is a certificate from a senior teacher that says a person may teach Quran reading.

All our tutors are trained to teach on screen. They share the page and mark mistakes so the student can see them. They also know how to keep a child interested through a webcam. Our quality team checks classes and parent feedback each month. Tutors teach in clear English, unless a family asks for Urdu or Arabic.
