Online Quran Classes in Brisbane

Queensland Keeps AEST All Year

Queensland does not use daylight saving. Brisbane stays on AEST all year. New South Wales and Victoria move their clocks forward one hour from the first Sunday in October to the first Sunday in April.

So for half the year, Brisbane is 1 hour behind Sydney and Melbourne. When it is 5 pm in Brisbane in January, it is 6 pm in Sydney. In July, both cities show 5 pm.

A timetable built on the Sydney clock can push a Brisbane class an hour earlier or later when the clocks change. That can clash with dinner, sport or bedtime. We book Brisbane students on Brisbane time. Your 5 pm class stays at 5 pm in January and in July.

Summer vs Winter Slot Table

Here is how one Brisbane class time lines up with other cities. Your class never moves. Only the other cities do.

This matters most for families spread across states. Cousins in Brisbane and Sydney may both learn with us. In summer, their slots sit one hour apart on the clock. Across Australia, our busiest times are 4 pm to 8.30 pm on school days, plus weekend mornings.

Classes for Brisbane Kids

Queensland schools run 4 terms a year. The long summer break runs from about mid-December to late January. Most children start with Noorani Qaida, a first book for the Arabic letters and their sounds. Then they read the Quran with Tajweed, the rules for saying each letter right. Some go on to Hifz.

Each class is 30 minutes, live and private. Parents get a short note after each class and a written report each month. You can sit in at any time. To change your plan for the holidays, tell us 1 week ahead. In Ramadan, we move classes to fit around suhoor (the meal before dawn) and taraweeh (the night prayers of Ramadan).

Families often plan the school year like this:

  • During term: one fixed after-school slot, 2 to 5 days a week
  • Between terms: add a few classes while there is more free time
  • Exam weeks: go lighter, but keep the habit going
  • Summer break: keep going at home, or pause if you travel

Adults Learning to Read

Some adults never had a Quran teacher as a child. Some learned a little and stopped. Some want to read Arabic script for the first time. Others are reverts starting from the first letter.

In a private class, nobody else hears your mistakes. The tutor listens, fixes each sound and explains the rule in plain English. Early classes from 6 am and late evening classes fit around work. Women can ask for a female tutor. You set the pace.

Work on a roster, in a hospital or in transport? Tell us when your shifts change, and we move your class before it starts. If your weeks are busy, 2 classes a week is a good place to start.

Female Quran Teachers in Brisbane

Sisters and girls can learn with a woman from the very first lesson. Just pick a female tutor on the trial form. Our female tutors are trained in the same way as our male tutors. They teach all our courses, Hifz included, and the price does not change.

Have a son and a daughter? Each child can have their own tutor and their own class time. A mother can also book a class for herself during the school day, while the house is quiet.

Hifz Classes for Brisbane Students

Hifz means learning the whole Quran by heart. It needs a class every weekday, so the time zone matters more than for any other course. Because Brisbane stays on AEST, a Hifz slot here never jumps by an hour in October or April. That keeps the daily habit steady.

Each Hifz class has three parts: a new lesson, a review of recent pages and a review of older pages. The teacher keeps a record of all three. The Hifz plan costs A$205 a month for 20 classes. Students who want a slower pace can start with 3 classes a week. Our Hifz page for Australia explains the full plan, including how long it takes.

Online Quran Classes Brisbane Students Can Take

Brisbane students can take any Salam Campus course. You can move from one course to the next with the same tutor and no gap. Each course page shows the full plan, who it suits and how long it usually takes. Good courses to start with:

Gold Coast, Logan and Ipswich Families

Brisbane is the centre of a wide region. Logan lies to the south, Ipswich to the west and the Gold Coast to the south-east. Redcliffe and the Moreton Bay area lie to the north. The Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba are a longer drive. All of these places are in Queensland, so all are on AEST all year.

A weekly trip into the city for a class can take most of an evening. Online, distance does not matter. A family in Ipswich and a family in the inner city get the same lesson at the same local time.

There is one thing to watch near the border. Tweed Heads and other towns just over the line are in New South Wales, so they use daylight saving. If you live there, book your class on New South Wales time.
