Online Quran Classes for Adults

Who Our Online Quran Classes for Adults Are For

About half of the adults who contact us say the same thing. They can pray. They know a few surahs by heart. But they cannot open the Quran and read a page. Some never had a teacher. Some had one as a child and forgot it all. Some became Muslim last year and are starting from the first letter. None of this is unusual. None of it is a problem.

Adults learn in a different way from children, so we teach them differently. Adults want to know why a rule exists. They want a clear plan with goals along the way. They want to be corrected without being talked down to. We choose our adult tutors for exactly these skills. Most of them have taught working adults for years.

  • Complete beginners who cannot read Arabic letters yet
  • Returning learners who read slowly or with mistakes and want to fix them
  • Reverts and new Muslims who want reading, salah (prayer) and basic knowledge together
  • Busy working people and parents who need early morning, evening or weekend times
  • Retired and older learners who want a calm, slow pace

Learn to Read the Quran from Scratch as an Adult

Beginners start with Noorani Qaida. It is the same first book used across the Muslim world. We teach it at an adult pace, with adult explanations. You learn the letters and their shapes, the vowel marks and how letters join. You also learn the first rules of Tajweed (the rules for reading the Quran correctly). At 3 classes a week, this usually takes 3 to 4 months. Then you move into the Quran itself. You read with the teacher word by word until you read smoothly.

Nobody else hears you. There is no group, no comparing and no shame about starting late. Your teacher has heard every mistake before. They will simply fix it and move on.

Quran Reading with Tajweed for Adult Learners

Maybe you can already read, but no one taught you Tajweed. Most adults start here. You learn each rule and use it straight away on the verses you read. We keep the theory short. You learn by reading aloud and being corrected, lesson after lesson. In time, the rules become a habit.

After the Tajweed course, you have more choices. You can memorize Juz Amma (the last part of the Quran) or chosen surahs. You can study Tafsir (the meaning of the Quran) to understand what you read. Or you can take an Ijazah track. An Ijazah is a license to recite and teach the Quran. Your teacher holds a sanad (a chain of teachers back to the Prophet, peace be upon him).

  • Makhraj: where each letter comes from in the mouth and throat
  • The rules of noon and meem sakinah
  • Madd (making a sound longer), qalqalah (a light bounce) and ghunnah (a nasal sound)
  • Stopping rules: where to pause and how to start again

Online Quran Classes for Reverts and New Muslims

New Muslims often need more than reading. Our revert track mixes Arabic letters and Quran reading with the daily basics. You learn how to make wudu (washing before prayer) and how to pray each salah. You learn the daily duas (short prayers) and the meaning of what you say. Everything is taught in English. Your teacher is used to explaining Islam from the start. Your questions are welcome in every class.

You can ask for a male or a female tutor. Sisters can study with the camera off. You set the pace. We never assume you already know anything.

Evening and Weekend Quran Classes for Working Adults

Most adults study at 6 or 7 in the morning, before work. Others study at 8 or 9 in the evening, after the children sleep. Some study on Saturday and Sunday. Our teachers are spread across several time zones. So all these times are open in the USA, UK, Canada and Australia. Weekend classes cost the same as weekday ones.

Your class time stays the same each week, so it becomes a habit. What if a meeting or a night shift gets in the way? Tell us before the class, and we will move it. You do not lose it. If you travel to other time zones for work, we move your class time with you.

What a 30 Minute Adult Quran Lesson Looks Like

A 30 minute class is enough when it is one-on-one and every minute is used. Each class has 3 simple parts. Longer classes of 45 or 60 minutes are also available. They suit Hifz students (people memorizing the Quran). They also suit adults who want fewer but longer classes.

Lessons run on Zoom or Google Meet, with the page shown on screen. A phone is enough. A laptop or tablet is more comfortable. You do not need to print anything.

  • A quick revision of the last lesson
  • New reading or a new rule, with correction on the spot
  • A short summary and a small task for the next day

Male and Female Quran Teachers for Adults

Every adult can choose a male or a female teacher. Our male tutors are Hafiz and Qari graduates of recognized institutes. A Hafiz knows the whole Quran by heart. A Qari is trained to recite the Quran correctly and beautifully. Our female tutors hold the same qualifications. They teach sisters in a private and respectful setting. All our teachers teach in English. Most also teach in Urdu or Arabic. If the first match does not feel right, we change the teacher for free.

Adult Quran Class Fees and Plans

The fee depends only on how many 30 minute classes you take each week: 2, 3, 4 or 5. Most adults choose 3 classes a week. It keeps you moving forward without filling up your week. Hifz plans have their own price. Everything is paid monthly, and there is no sign-up fee. You can pause or change your plan with 1 week's notice. See the full price table in USD, GBP, CAD and AUD on our fees page.
