Online Quran Classes Cost

How Much Do Online Quran Classes Cost?

Most well-known online Quran academies charge between USD 30 and USD 100 a month. This is for a live one-to-one class with a qualified tutor. The price depends on how many classes you take each week. Our own plans are in the lower half of that range. For 2 classes a week, you pay USD 40, GBP 28, CAD 52, AUD 40 a month. For 5 classes a week, you pay USD 88, GBP 60, CAD 115, AUD 100 a month.

Group classes and recorded video courses cost less. A private tutor who comes to your home costs much more. This page is about the middle choice that most families pick. That means a live tutor, one student, a fixed weekly time and a monthly bill.

Online Quran Classes Cost: Per Class or Per Month?

Almost every academy gives you a monthly fee. But the cost per class is what tells you if a plan is good value. To find it, divide the monthly fee by the number of classes you really get. Also check that the length of each class is clearly stated.

On our plans, every class is 30 minutes. The more classes you take, the less each class costs. In US dollars, that is $5 a class on 2 classes a week. It is $4.5 a class on 3 classes a week, and $4.4 on 5 classes a week. In pounds, it goes from £3.5 down to £3 a class. In Canadian dollars, it goes from $6.5 down to $5.75 a class. In Australian dollars, it is a flat $5 a class on every plan.

Typical Online Quran Class Fees by Country

Prices are usually set in the student's own currency. The normal price is a little different in each country. Below are the price ranges that families are often quoted. They are for one-to-one classes with a certified tutor, at 2 to 3 classes a week.

  • United States: USD 35 to 80 a month is common. Our plans: USD 40 to USD 88.
  • United Kingdom: GBP 25 to 60 a month. A few tutors charge by the hour, at GBP 8 to 15 an hour. Our plans: GBP 28 to GBP 60.
  • Canada: CAD 45 to 100 a month. Our plans: CAD 52 to CAD 115.
  • Australia: AUD 40 to 100 a month. Our plans: AUD 40 to AUD 100.

What Changes the Cost of Online Quran Classes

Two academies can quote very different fees for what looks like the same service. These are the things that really change the price. Use them to compare offers fairly.

  • Classes per week. This matters most. 2 classes a week is the lowest price. 5 classes a week about doubles the monthly bill, but each class costs less.
  • Class length. 30 minutes is normal for children and beginners. Adult classes of 45 or 60 minutes cost more, in line with the extra time.
  • One-to-one or group. Private classes cost more than a group of 3 to 5 students. But students usually learn 2 to 3 times faster. So the cost for each page learned is often lower.
  • Hifz (memorizing the Quran). It needs daily classes. It also needs a teacher who tracks the new lesson and the revision. So it has its own plan and price.
  • Teacher qualifications. Some tutors hold an Ijazah (a license to teach the Quran) or an Al-Azhar degree. They cost more per hour than a general tutor. Ask what qualification your teacher really holds.
  • Female teacher. Some academies charge extra for a female tutor. We do not. Male and female teachers cost the same.

What Our Online Quran Classes Cost

Here is what we charge, in full. Every plan gives you live one-to-one classes of 30 minutes each. You pay monthly, in your own currency.

There is no sign-up fee, no fee for materials and no charge for the trial. Weekend and evening classes cost the same as weekday ones. The full table, with the 4 classes a week option, is on our Quran learning fees page. The currency tabs below also show every plan side by side.

  • 2 classes a week: USD 40, GBP 28, CAD 52, AUD 40
  • 3 classes a week: USD 54, GBP 42, CAD 72, AUD 60
  • 5 classes a week: USD 88, GBP 60, CAD 115, AUD 100
  • Hifz plan, 5 classes a week with a memorization expert: USD 175, GBP 120, CAD 225, AUD 200

Why Hifz and Ijazah Classes Cost More

Memorization has its own price of USD 175, GBP 120, CAD 225, AUD 200 a month. This is because it cannot be done well on 2 classes a week. A student doing Hifz needs a class every day. The teacher must hear the new lesson, the recent revision and the old revision. This way, nothing is forgotten. The plan includes 20 classes a month, a teacher who focuses on Hifz, and a written monthly report.

Ijazah courses run on the same plan. This is because the teacher must hold a sanad and hear the whole Quran recited. A sanad is a chain of teachers going back to the Prophet, peace be upon him. Are you comparing Hifz or Ijazah prices somewhere else? Check if the price includes daily classes and a qualified teacher. Some offers are only 2 or 3 classes a week with a general tutor.

Hidden Costs in Online Quran Classes to Watch For

The price you see first is not always the price you pay. Before you sign up anywhere, ask about each of these.

  • Sign-up or admission fees, charged once at the start. Some are as high as a full month's fee.
  • Fees for books or PDFs. Qaida (the first book of Arabic letters) and Tajweed (rules for reading the Quran correctly) material should be free.
  • Charges for changing teacher or class time, or for pausing during holidays and exams.
  • Missed class rules. If the teacher misses a class, you should get it back for free. Check what happens when the student misses one.
  • Yearly contracts or minimum terms. A month-to-month plan is safer while you are still finding the right teacher.
  • Extra card or payment fees added when you pay.

Online Quran Classes vs a Local Madrasa: The Cost

A weekend madrasa or mosque class often costs less each month. For some families, it is the right choice. But the monthly fee is not the key point. What matters is what each option gives you for that fee.

  • Group size. A mosque class often has 10 to 20 children with 1 teacher. Each child may read for only a few minutes. In a one-to-one online class, the whole 30 minutes belongs to the student.
  • Travel. Going to a madrasa 2 or 3 times a week costs fuel, parking and an adult's time. Online classes happen at the kitchen table.
  • Regular classes. Online classes run every week of the year. If your teacher is away, a backup teacher steps in. So progress does not stop over the holidays.
  • Clear reports. You get a written report each month. You can also sit in on any class. In a big group, it is much harder to know how your child is really doing.

Is the Cost of Online Quran Classes Worth It?

A child with 3 classes a week usually finishes Noorani Qaida in 4 to 6 months. Within a year, the child reads the Quran with basic Tajweed. An adult beginner on the same plan usually reads smoothly within 12 to 18 months. Compare that with the monthly fee. It is a small cost for a skill that lasts a lifetime. It is also a skill you can pass on to the next generation.

The best way to judge is to try a class. Book a free trial and meet a teacher. You will see clearly what the fee pays for before you pay anything at all.
