What Is Noorani Qaida and Why Start Here?

Noorani Qaida is a short first book for reading Arabic. It teaches the sound and shape of each Arabic letter. Then, lesson by lesson, it joins the letters into words. In the end, you read real verses from the Quran.

The book was put together by Maulvi Noor Muhammad Ludhyanvi of India. Today it is the first book used in mosques and madrasas (Islamic schools) in South Asia and the Arab world. Its main strength is its order. Each new step comes only when the learner is ready for it.

At Salam Campus, we teach the same book with a live tutor on video. The Qaida already covers the practical side of Tajweed. So when you finish it, you can read the Quran with the right sounds. You can do this even before you study the rules by name. That is why we suggest it to each beginner, at any age.

Learn Noorani Qaida Online with a Live Teacher

Apps and videos can show you a letter. But they cannot hear you say it. In the Qaida, the sound is the whole point. So our classes are live and one-on-one.

Your tutor listens to each sound you make. The tutor shows you where to put your tongue and lips. You say the sound again until it comes out right. Mistakes are fixed in the same lesson, not months later.

Families in the USA, UK, Canada and Australia choose their own class time. We have teachers at all hours of the day and night.

Each 30-minute class has the same 3 parts:

  • A quick review of the last lesson
  • The new lesson, shown on a shared screen
  • Reading practice: you read aloud and the tutor follows along

Noorani Qaida Online Classes for Kids

Children can start from age 4. They only need to sit in front of a screen for half an hour. Lessons move at your child's own speed.

After each class, parents get a short note. It says what the tutor covered and what to practice at home.

You do not need to know Arabic to help your child. The tutor gives small, clear homework. Most of the time, this means reading 1 line a few times. The tutor checks it at the start of the next lesson. With 3 classes a week, most children finish the Qaida in 4 to 6 months.

Our tutors keep young learners interested with:

  • Short and quick practice drills
  • Letters marked in different colors
  • Fun games that repeat each sound
  • Lots of praise and kind words

Online Noorani Qaida Course for Adults and Beginners

Many adults have read the Quran for years from memory. Some read it from English letters (transliteration). They never learned to read the Arabic script itself. Others are new Muslims who are starting from zero.

The Qaida works well for both groups. It does not expect you to know anything first. Once you know the letters, you move fast. Adults often finish in about 3 months.

Adult classes are private and relaxed. Here is what you get:

  • A male or female tutor, as you prefer
  • Time to ask as many questions as you like
  • Class times you can move around work and family
  • No one else is in the class. Only your teacher hears you, and their job is to help you

What You Will Learn

The course follows the usual lesson order of the Qaida. Each new skill builds on the one before it. By the last lesson, you will read verses of the Quran on your own.

  • The Arabic alphabet: the name and sound of each letter
  • Makhraj: the place in the mouth or throat where each sound comes from
  • How letters change shape at the start, middle and end of a word
  • Short vowels (harakat) and reading words of 2 and 3 letters
  • Long vowels (huroof madd) and soft vowels (huroof leen)
  • Tanween: the double vowel sounds at the end of a word
  • Sukoon (a letter with no vowel) and shaddah (a doubled letter)
  • The strong and soft letters
  • Noon sakinah, meem sakinah and tanween rules at a beginner level
  • Rules of the letter Raa, and the light and heavy Laam
  • Stopping signs (waqf) and reading short surahs (chapters) from the Quran itself

How Online Classes Work at Salam Campus

Each class runs on Zoom or Google Meet. The Qaida is shown on the screen, and both cameras are on. You only need a phone, tablet or laptop and a quiet place.

We send you the Qaida as a free PDF. If you like paper, we can tell you where to get the printed book.

After your free trial, we give you a regular tutor and a fixed weekly timetable. We also keep a simple report of your attendance and progress. You can check it at any time.

If you miss a class and tell us first, we move it to a new time. You do not lose it. If you feel your tutor is not the right fit, we will change your tutor. There is no fuss.

Our support team answers messages 24 hours a day. A parent in Toronto can change a class time at any hour. A student in Sydney can ask a question at any hour, too. There is no need to wait for office hours.

Is my child safe in an online class?

Yes. We check every teacher before they teach a single child. You can watch any class.

  • We check each teacher's papers, ID and certificates.
  • Each teacher passes a reading test, a live teaching test and an interview. In the interview we look at how they treat children.
  • For their first month, we review the new teacher's classes every week.
  • Parents may join any class. Keep the device in a shared family room.
  • After each class, the teacher writes you a short note. You also get a report every month.
  • Worried about something? We reply within 1 working day.

Learning Noorani Qaida Online Step by Step

The first weeks are all about the alphabet. The student learns to know each letter by sight. They learn to say it from the right place in the mouth. They also learn to tell apart the letters that look or sound alike.

Next come the joined forms of the letters. Now the student can find the same letter inside a word. Only then do the vowels come in. Vowels turn letters into sounds you can join together.

The middle of the course adds long sounds and stress: madd, tanween, sukoon and shaddah. This is where reading starts to sound like real recitation (reading the Quran aloud in the proper way).

In the final lessons, the student learns beginner rules for noon sakinah and Raa. Then the student moves from the Qaida into the last juz (1 of the 30 parts) of the Quran. The student reads short surahs and uses the rules they have learned.

In short, the course has 4 stages:

  • Stage 1: the letters, their sounds and their shapes
  • Stage 2: joined letters and short vowels
  • Stage 3: madd, tanween, sukoon and shaddah
  • Stage 4: beginner rules and short surahs from the last juz

Who This Course Is For

Reading comes first. Everything else in Quran study depends on it. That is why we ask new Muslims to take this course first.

Can you already read the Quran, but want to fix your sounds? Then the Quran Reading with Tajweed course is most likely a better fit. Your tutor in the free trial class will tell you honestly which course suits you.

This course is the right place to start if:

  • You or your child cannot read Arabic script yet
  • You can read a little, but you get stuck on the vowels
  • You learned long ago and want to build a strong base again
  • You are a new Muslim and want to start reading the Quran

What Comes After Noorani Qaida

Finishing the Qaida is a big step, but it is not the end. Most students move straight into our Quran Reading with Tajweed course. There, the same tutor helps them read longer passages with ease. They also learn the Tajweed rules by name.

Some children show interest and have the energy to keep going. They can then start to memorize the Quran. Adults often add Arabic language lessons or daily duas (short prayers) next to their reading.

Whatever path you choose, the reading habit from these first months will stay with you. Book a free trial today. A Salam Campus tutor will take you through the first lesson.

It is hard to choose a Quran teacher online. So we made the first step free. Every step after it is easy to undo.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most children finish in 4 to 6 months with 3 classes a week. Adult beginners often finish in about 3 months. The speed depends on 2 things. Does the student come to class on a regular basis? And do they practice a little at home each day? Your tutor will give you a real estimate after the first 2 or 3 lessons.

We accept children from age 4. They need to sit in front of a screen and follow the teacher for 30 minutes. Younger children often do better with 2 classes a week at first. Once they settle into the routine, they can move up to 3. A parent is welcome to sit beside them during the lesson.

No. We email you a free PDF of the Noorani Qaida before your first class. In the lesson, the tutor shows the page on screen. Do you prefer a printed copy? Any Islamic bookshop or online store sells it at a low price. But you do not need it to finish the course.

Yes. Salam Campus has both male and female Qaida teachers. You can tell us your choice when you book the free trial. The student keeps the same tutor for the whole course. This way, the bond with the teacher and the teaching style stay the same.

It gives you the practical base. You learn the right letter sounds, the vowels, madd and the beginner rules. When you finish, you can read the Quran correctly. Do you want to learn all the Tajweed rules by name? Do you want to use them in long passages? Then move on to our Quran Reading with Tajweed course.

The trial is a real 30-minute lesson, not a sales call. The tutor checks what the student already knows. Then the tutor teaches the first lesson of the Qaida and suggests a weekly schedule. It costs nothing, and you do not have to sign up. If you decide to continue, classes start at the time you choose.
